Snoring

While you may think snoring only affects your partner’s sleep, it can mean there is reduced or no airflow through your throat throughout the night which could be a clear sign of sleep
aponea!

If the snoring is related to sleep apnoea there is a high chance that in the future the individual could suffer from:

The noisy sound we know as snoring occurs
during sleep when the structures found at the back of the throat relax. This collapsible part of the airway, where the tongue and upper throat meet the muscles of the soft palate and uvula,
becomes narrower causing them to vibrate when the person breathes, creating the sound we recognise as snoring.

Why should I be concerned with snoring?

The first step in the treatment process at the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre Sydney is to clearly identifying whether the patient’s snoring is a symptom to a greater issue such as sleep apnoea. Once the cause is identified we can then tailor a treatment plan specifically for your condition with the most likely cause of action involving improving the position of the jaw, head or neck to reduce or remove the pressure obstructing the airways.
